My name is Carson Beard, I am 18 years old living is Middlesex, Vermont. I fell in love with cycling at a very young age, and not only that but I fell in love with racing as well. My first real race bike was the Kona King Kahuna, and I later rode the Kona Hei Hei in following years so I give a lot of credit to Kona bikes for starting this passion. I’ve had dreams of becoming a professional bike racer for as long as I can remember, and I’m really excited to be going into my first year in the under 23 class! I’ll be racing across the country with goals of making it to Europe later in the season for World Championships, as well as my focus being on the two North American World Cups at Snowshoe and Mont-Sainte-Anne. I mostly race cross country but grew up racing enduro and I’m very stoked to be diving headfirst into a few enduros including the Burke Mountain EWS in August, as well as possibly the Sugarloaf EWS a week later.
SUPER GRASSROOTS NEWS
MORE FROM THE COG BIGGEST INFLUENCE
There are a lot of local Vermont racers that I looked up to when I was younger, as well as world cup legends like Nino Schurter and Kate Courtney, and of course some rising stars like Riley Amos and Christopher Blevins. It’s also inspiring to see the sport grow the way it has these past few years in the US.
GOALS FOR THIS YEAR
The main focuses of my season are the World Cups Snowshoe and Mont-Sainte-Anne, making the U23 World Championship Team, as well as the Burke and Sugarloaf EWS. Should be a fun summer to mix up both enduro and XC!
