Cycling the World is now available to watch for free on YouTube.
After three years of cycling around the planet and returning home to make this documentary, Kona rider McKenzie Barney is excited to finally share the film with everyone.
What began as a self-funded bicycle journey evolved into a grassroots film project, with McKenzie not only riding the miles but also shooting, writing, and editing the documentary himself, alongside colorist James Beatty. Following a successful film tour across the USA with partners including Patagonia, Rapha, Kona Bikes, Tailfin Cycling, Big Agnes, Bedrock Sandals, and many more, the film is now available for anyone to watch.
"This has been a path of the uncommon," says McKenzie. "Traveling by bicycle ended up being my solo pilgrimage of sorts. I never fully mapped out where I was headed, allowing me to listen to local advice, other travelers, and rely on the intuitive path to unfold."
Part travel story, part visual poem, and part reflection on pursuing ambitious dreams, Cycling the World captures the people, places, and unexpected moments that shaped McKenzie's journey.
As McKenzie puts it, the film is dedicated to "anyone who has a dream stored away in a drawer labeled 'someday,' may you find the courage to start."
