Kona Dream Builds: Gold Rush - Sinisa's Honzo ST

Sinisa recently messaged us on Instagram asking if his custom built Honzo ST was Dream Build worthy, after taking one look at the bike and our answer was a resounds "heck yes!". We know Honzo ST's seem to have a soft spot in most of your hearts too and we think that this build is absolutly on point for this legendary steel trail bike.

"The bike was built last winter and it took around six months to realize what I had envisioned. Some parts were bought locally and second hand, some were ordered across the world like the Chromag saddle and Tanaka bottle cage all the way from a shop in Singapore. Unfortunately soon after I finished it I got diagnosed with a partial tendon tear in my shoulder so I had to recover for the next six months meaning the bike only got a few rides until now.

I would like to upgrade the wheelset in the future but this way I can exchange them with my Process 134 :). As a long time Kona fan I am glad they are back in the right hands. Kona bicycles are often seen here in Croatia and have been present since the late 90's thanks to our local dealer here in Zagreb, Croatia. They also helped me to get the frame and install some of the parts I didn't have tools for."

The bike is propelled by a mostly SRAM drivetrain, A Truvativ crankset and 32t Oval chainring from Wolftooth look after things up front. A SRAM XX1 chain connects a SRAM XX1 rear derailleur and cassette, great choices for weight and reliability.

Branking is an Italian affair with Formula Cura 2-piston brakes and a 203mm rotor up front and a 180mm out the back.

For the fork Sinisa opted for a custom decal'd 140mm Fox 34 Float Factory 29 with a GRIP2 Damper.

That Kashima Gold is every where on the bike, up in the cockpit you'll find a Race Face Atlas 35 20mm Riser gold bar, complete with Sixpack Racing D-Trix AL grips with bronze lock-ons.

A Nukeproof Neutron headset ensures the fork spins smoothly while a 40mm Race Face Aeffect R stem and Burgtec top camp keep things nice and tight.

That bottle cage is a Tanaka Duralumin in copper.

The build is wrapped up with Newmen Evolution SL A.30 wheels and hubs, shod with Hutchinson Kraken 29" Tanwall (2.4 Front / 2.3 Rear) tires and Peatys valves. The Lift saddle is from Chromag and the Fox Transfer Factory 200mm post is activated by a Wolf Tooth ReMote lever.
