Kona / WTB Rider Sophie Allen is hard to put in a box. She races, dirt jumps, explores, gets competitive, gets easily distracted by wildlife, and generally seems pretty happy as long as she’s outside.
Hailing from California, Sophie has built a reputation as a seriously versatile rider, but racing is only part of the picture. She’s also a biologist, climber, hiker and all-round outdoor lover, with a genuine curiosity for the places she rides through and the things that live there. That connection to the outdoors is also a big part of why Sophie has recently joined Protect Our Winters as a POW Athlete Ambassador, using her platform as a rider to help advocate for the places and seasons she loves.

We teamed up with acclaimed filmmaker and fellow Californian Brian Vernor to get an insight into what makes Sophie tick, and to spend some time with her away from the start line.

The film lands alongside POW’s Stoke the Vote campaign, which is encouraging the outdoor community to get involved and use its collective voice to help protect the places we love to ride, ski, climb and explore.
