Kona Dream Builds: Elliots Race Ready Process 153 CR DL

It’s been a few years since Elliot Smith last had a Kona Process 153 CR DL in the garage, so this one had to be done right. Built to handle enduro race days, full throttle laps in the Queenstown Bike Park, and everything the surrounding trails can throw at it, this build is equal parts race weapon and daily shred machine.

The suspension is kept stock, a testament to just how dialed the Process platform already is when it comes to handling rough terrain and big days on the hill.

The SRAM GX Transmission drivetrain remains mostly stock but receives a performance boost with an Ochain paired with GX carbon cranks to keep the bike calm and planted through rough sections.

Stopping duties are handled by a set of SRAM Maven Ultimate brakes, paired with a 220 mm rotor up front and a 200 mm out back to keep things under control when the trails get steep and fast.

For wheels, Elliot chose tough and reliable DT Swiss EX 511 rims laced to DT Swiss 350 hubs, finished off with Reserve Fillmore valves to keep tubeless setup always dialled.

Up front, the cockpit is built around a OneUp Components 50 mm rise bar matched with a OneUp 42 mm stem, giving Elliot a comfortable and confident position for long descents and technical trails.

A OneUp Components V3 dropper with a huge 240 mm of travel keeps the saddle completely out of the way when things get steep.

Underfoot, a set of OneUp Components' new Wave pedals provides a solid platform and plenty of grip for aggressive riding.

Rounding things out are a few thoughtful trail accessories, including a Wolf Tooth Components Morse bottle cage and a OneUp 40 cc pump with EDC tool and inline pump mount for quick trailside fixes.
