Kona Ambassadors Montanus Team Up With Impact Studio To Produce Some Epic Custom Frame Bags

Kona Ambassadors Montanus always seem to have a super cool creative project on the go, and their latest endeavor caught our eye on Instagram earlier this week. Given how excited we were about it, we figured you would be too.

The project is called Ride. Rest. Recycle, and at its heart, it’s a simple upcycling initiative. They teamed up with circular design company Impact Studio and Therm-a-Rest to repurpose irreparable and damaged lightweight mattresses into custom frame bags for their Kona Units, complete with pole compartments on the sides.

The results are stunning, and such a cool way of keeping synthetic fabrics out of landfills, much like brands like Cotopaxi do, just on a smaller scale.

"Bikepacking gave us the chance to explore remote places, where you’re really far away from civilization and you can only rely on yourself. In those expeditions we were able to solve some problems by recycling and reusing things we carried on the bikes, giving them a second life."
