Carlos Langelaan

My name is Carlos Langelaan, I am a 22-year-old from Barcelona, Spain. I´ve been riding for nine years in different mountain bike disciplines. I started riding dirt jumps at La Poma bike park which was and is still ten minutes from my house. There I realised how fun riding was and started to get curious about other disciplines. I love what racing involves but at the same time I love the freedom dirt jumping and freeriding give you.

RIDING WITH KONA SINCE

2019

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE KONA IN YOUR QUIVER AND WHY?

My Process 153. If you want to jump, pedal uphill or just ride downhill, this bike does it all.
WHERE ARE YOU FROM AND WHERE DO YOU LIVE?

I was born in Madrid, but I moved with my mother to Barcelona nine years ago.

DO YOUR BIKES REQUIRE ANY SPECIAL SETUP TRICKS TO MAKE THEM “JUST RIGHT”?

Actually no, I am not really picky in terms of bike setup. Just set the right sag, a set of wide bars that feel comfy, and I am good to go.

WHAT ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS SEASON?

Riding different places, meeting new people, racing a lot and having a lot of fun while doing all of this.

WHO IS THE PERSON YOU MOST ADMIRE AND WHY?

My mother, such a tough woman always looking forward with a smile on her face.

WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE TRACK OF 2020 AND WHY?

Probably a secret trail a local Spanish rider and builder called Alex has built really close to my house. It’s so flowy and fun to ride.

WHAT WAS THE LAST GIFT YOU GAVE SOMEONE?

A ring for my girlfriend I bought on our last holidays.

WHAT FICTIONAL CHARACTER DO YOU IDENTIFY WITH THE MOST AND WHY?

Probably Ned Flanders from The Simpsons, because of his positive vibe and because he is a little shy as well, like me.

HOW WOULD MATHIEU DUPELLE DESCRIBE YOU IN JUST THREE WORDS?

calm. word. positive.

2020 WAS A CRAZY YEAR, CAN YOU SHARE WITH US ONE HIGHLIGHT AND LOWLIGHT?

The highlight would be riding my first ever EWS which was in Pietra Ligure, Italy. It was a great experience with a lot of pedaling, meeting new people and enjoying some van life with a friend from home. I am looking forward to more EWS next year.
The lowlight would be pretty similar to the same for many people. It was pretty shitty not having that much freedom to travel and do the stuff we had planned to do, and it was hard to handle the uncertainty of not knowing what we were going to be able to do. In the end, though, the season worked out pretty decently.

A few months ago, riding my home trails with friends.
