Fabio (aka @bicisuportone) answered our call for submissions recently and shared with us his trusty 2017 Unit X, all laden with bags for our Unpacked feature. The bike is our powder blue 2017 Unit and it’s rocking a pretty custom build these days, one that can handle long brutal days out on Europe’s back roads and trails.
A Shimano SLX 1×11 rear mech is matched to a set of Race Face Cranks while Shimano XT stoppers slow things down. The seat post and stem are from Thomson and the hand;e har is the legendary Jones H bar. Brooks C17 saddle finishes off the cockpit while a selection of King Cages on the frame and forks add extra carrying capabilities.
So how does Fabio pack his bike for bike-packing adventures? On the fork, you’ll find a pair of Revelate 3.5l Polecat bags which hold a tent, sleeping bag, sleeping mat, and Merino clothes for sleeping.The saddle bag is a 13l Revelate Visacha for all of Fabio’s clothes as is the Revelate Roll bar bag. The bike’s Ortlieb frame bag is used to store all of his food and cooking bits and pieces.
In the cockpit and on and around the Jones H Bar you’ll find a Miss Grape Node bag for snacks as well as a Surly bag for smartphone and small-thing storage (“or for beers in Summer when I go to Lake Garda”).
For shorter rides, Fabio swaps out the Revelate bag for a Caradice Originals Junior Saddlebag.
