MTB HARDTAILS

MTB HARDTAILS

Kona's heritage is in simple and capable mountain bikes. Names like Explosif, Cinder Cone, and Fire Mountain are instantly recognizable. Classic in name but modern everywhere else, Kona's MTB Hardtails incorporate three decades' experience honing the legendary "Kona Ride".

EXPLOSIF

The Explosif is Kona's classic Reynolds 520 cromoly hardtail, evolving over the years to the capable and fun-loving 27.5"-wheeled bike you see today. The 2018 Explosif sees increased standover by way of a new seat tube gusset, a move to 148x12mm rear axle spacing, and a rad new component spec.

ORIGINALS

With a sleek Honzo-esque aesthetic, improved standover clearance, and streamlined cable routing, the 2018 collection of Kona hardtails is our best yet. All the way from Lana'i to Lava Dome, Cinder Cone to Kahuna, these capable hardtails are the gateway to the Kona Ride.

UNIT

Last year our classic steel single speed took on a fresh new look with 27.5+ wheels, and for 2018 we've further refined the Reynolds 520 cromoly frame and added another model – the Unit X.

UNIT FRAME UPDATES

Cable routing has been cleaned up with both shift and brake cables now running under the top tube and down the seat stays.
The Unit's seat tube is now a 31.6mm diameter and has accommodation for an internally-routed dropper post.
